March 12, 2012

I woke this morning to a howling wind swirling little chips of brown leaves around. The mountains across the valley have disappeared behind a heavy curtain of snow. I dreamed last night that I was working in my garden, harvesting juicy red tomatoes and tender sweet green beans. The sunshine yesterday was just March teasing me with hope...maybe this year I'll plant early.... This morning winter slapped me in the face with icy fingers, screaming in my face...ha ha, just kidding.

Wonder Woman and Winter

Christmas morning I was Wonder Woman in the kitchen.  How cool is that?  Thank you Allicia for allowing me to channel my inner reality.

And it is New Year's Day...HAPPY NEW YEARS
It snowed for 5 minutes on Christmas, sprinkled snow a couple days ago but melted quickly, and we had freezing rain last week.  But today, on the first day of this wonderful, beautiful New Year, we have snow.  It's not that I'm in love with snow.  I've given up skiing since the only move I ever perfected was a double release face plant (those of you who ski understand what that is and the rest of you can use your imagination...).  I'm happy about snow today and hope it snows another 3 feet and stays until March, then goes away.  We need the water.

This morning, life is fabulous.

My Superpowers

As I was contemplating our wonderful family Thanksgiving, I had a minor revelation regarding my superpowers.  This internal discovery happened as the result of the following conversation:

Grandkid: Grandma, why do you have a turkey in a bucket of water in the bathtub?
Me: I'm teaching it to swim.
GK: Really?  Oh, ok.

Grandma superpower: Knowing the answers to life's little questions.
